Motorist airlifted to hospital in critical condition as horror crash closes Scots road for 10 hours

A motorist is fighting for their life in hospital after a horror two car crash in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the B9002 between Insch and Kennethmont at around 10.30am on Monday.

A grey Honda Jazz collided with a white Mercedes van - forcing police to close the road for more than 10 hours.

The driver of the car was airlifted to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with critical injuries.

The person behind the wheel of the van was also taken to the same hospital by ambulance as a precaution.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw either of the vehicles around the time of the accident to come forward.

A statement read: “Road policing officers are appealing for information following a two vehicle crash on the B9002 between Insch and Kennethmont in Aberdeenshire.

“The crash occurred at around 10.30am and involved a white Mercedes van and a grey Honda Jazz.

“The car driver was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries and is described as being in a critical condition.

“The van driver was also taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precaution. The road remains closed and local diversions are in place.

“Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information or dash cam footage taken just before or after the crash is asked to contact Police Scotland quoting incident 1206 of 1 November.”
