Motorhome stolen in 'midnight heist' reunited with owners but suspects still at large

A motorhome which was stolen during a "midnight heist" has been returned to its rightful owners, police say.

The Pilote vehicle, which was intended to be used by the owners during their retirement, was stolen from a driveway in High Street, Gringley on the Hill, on Friday night (November 13).

After a number of days and following a an appeal, the motorhome has been found in Humberside by police officers along with another stolen vehicle.

Despite very clear CCTV imagery captured during the incident, no arrests have yet been made.

It was just one of around 10 of its kind in the UK, and the Nottinghamshire couple said their plans to travel around the UK for their retirement had been "shattered".

PC Scott Chambers, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a brazen theft carried out by thieves who were clearly very proficient at stealing vehicles.

“Whilst I am delighted that this vehicle will now be returned to its rightful owner, I am determined that we track down and punish the people responsible.

“So if you recognise the men in these CCTV images or have any other information that may help our investigation please contact us on 101 quoting incident 158 of 14 November. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
