Motorcylist rushed to hospital after smash shuts down part of busy Edinburgh bypass

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital after a smash shut down part of a busy Scots road.

Emergency services were scrambled to Hermiston Gait Roundabout off the Edinburgh City Bypass at around 1:30pm on Sunday.

Cops confirmed that the two-vehicle collision involved a motorcyclist and a car.

The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital following the crash. The extent of their injuries are not known.

The incident partly blocked the busy route as traffic was hit with delays.

Cops cordoned off one lane of the road while they dealt with the incident.

A spokesman said: "We were called to a crash involving a motorcycle and a car at the Hermiston Gait Roundabout off the A720 around 1.30pm.

"One person was taken to hospital and the road has been fully cleared."
