Motorcyclists shot on Melbourne's Bolte Bridge

A motorcycle is towed after the shooting, which led to the Bolte Bridge being closed for around six hours.

Two motorcyclists have been shot after a gunman opened fire on them from a car on Melbourne's Bolte Bridge overnight.

The Armed Crime Squad is investigating after shots were fired towards a group of men riding motorbikes on the bridge about 8:30pm on Friday.

Police said the gunman was in a car, possibly a station wagon.

A 40-year-old man from Sunbury was wounded and fell from his bike, sliding into a barrier.

He was taken to the Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Another man later went to hospital with suspected gunshot wounds.

No arrests have been made.

The bridge was closed following the incident before reopening on Saturday morning.
