Motorcyclists protest outside police station because they feel 'unsafe to work'

A protest outside a police station in the city centre has been held by motorcyclists who feel "unsafe" on Bristol's roads.

Up to fifty motorbikes were parked outside Bridewell Police Station at around 11am today (March 22) .

They were then driven to City Hall outside the Bristol City Council offices later in the afternoon.

The bikers, which included Deliveroo and Uber drivers from across the city, said the protest was held to raise awareness of motorcycle thefts in Bristol.

Ten motorbikes are stolen in Bristol every week, according to police, sometimes as many as two a day .

Geraldson Foreshi, 35, was one of the Deliveroo drivers who joined the protest and wanted answers from the police.

"The protest is being held because it is unsafe to work," he said.

"We never know when we going to have our motorbikes stolen or stabbed with a knife.

"It's very dangerous in Bristol and it's getting more difficult for us to work.

"We want to know when it's going to stop and what police can do for us. We need some answers."

Bikers previously took to the roads in protest last year, when hundreds gathered at Asda Cribbs Causeway in September to take a stand against motorbike theft and vandalism.
