Motorcyclist tragically dies after colliding with tree in Ayrshire

A motorcyclist has tragically died following a crash in North Ayrshire.

The 54-year-old was rushed to hospital in Glasgow after he struck a tree on his bike near Lugton but has sadly passed away earlier today from his injuries.

The incident took place around 10.05am on Thursday morning and investigations into establishing exactly what happened are continuing.

In a statement issued today, Police Scotland said: "A 54-year-old man who was seriously injured in a crash on the B777 on Thursday, April 29 has died from his injuries.

"The man, whose red Honda struck a tree after leaving the road a short distance south of the junction with the B775 for Lugton, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died on Saturday, May 1.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone with information that could help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0774 of 29 April."
