Motorcyclist taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision with a car in Stockport

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a collision with a car in Stockport.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Wellington Road South at around 7.50pm on Tuesday evening (December 31).

The motorcylist - whose gender and age is unknown at this stage - has been taken to hospital.

Police say they suffered serious injuries.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police said: "We were called at 7.50pm to a one-vehicle and motorcyclist road traffic collision.

Pictures taken at the scene show a large police presence with the road taped off.

Wellington Road South is currently closed in both directions between Longshut Lane West and Hillgate/Bramhall Lane.
