Motorcyclist taken to hospital after serious collision with a car in Northumberland

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a horror collision with a car in Northumberland.

Emergency crews attended the scene on Berwick Hill Road in Seaton Burn from 3.45 today approximately following reports of a collision. A casualty was found at the scene and was taken to the RVI for further treatment.

The incident led to widespread disruption in the roads in the vicinity with Berwick Hill Road subsequently closed by officers. Diversions were put in place and motorists were urged to avoid the area.

A clinical team leader, a specialist paramedic and two emergency ambulance crews were all in attendance at the scene alongside an off-duty paramedic. Thankfully, no one else was injured in the collision.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson later added: "We received a 999 call just before 3:45pm this afternoon to reports of a serious collision between a car and a motorbike on Berwick Hill Road in Seaton Burn. An off duty paramedic stopped at the scene to help.

"We dispatched a clinical team leader, a specialist paramedic and two emergency ambulance crews. One patient was taken to the RVI for further treatment."

Officers investigating a serious collision in Northumberland are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Shortly after 3.45pm today (Monday), police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle collision between a car and a motorcycle on Berwick Hill Road.

Inspector Sarah Munnelly of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols department said: “This is a serious collision, and we are working hard to establish what happened in the moments leading up to the collision and are asking for any witnesses to get in touch and help us build a clear picture of what has happened.

“If you were in the area and have any dashcam footage, or saw what happened, we’d ask you to get in touch with us as soon as you can. Your information, no matter how insignificant you feel it may be, could prove the key to our investigation.”
