Motorcyclist taken to hospital after one vehicle collision in Consett

A motorcyclist has been taken to A&E after coming off his bike in Consett.

Emergency services were called to the B6310 Medomsley Bank on Wednesday afternoon after reports of a one vehicle collision.

The man had suffered hand and leg injuries and has been taken to hospital by paramedics.

The road remains closed while police carry out investigations at the scene.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: "We were called at 1.50pm today to a one vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist on Medomsley Bank, in Consett.

"Paramedics also attended the scene and took the man to hospital. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.

"We would advise motorists to avoid the area as the road remains closed to allow collision investigators to work at the scene."

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service added: "We got a call at 1.50pm to a motorcyclist who had come off the bike on the B6310 near to the junction of Cut Throat Lane in Hamsterley.

“We dispatched one double-crewed ambulance.

“The male patient had suffered hand and leg injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham A&E.”
