Motorcyclist taken to hospital after crash with a van

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash in Hazel Grove.

The crash happened on Macclesfield Road at around 6.35am this morning.

A motorbike and van collided, police said.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to hospital from the scene.

It is believed he has a foot injury, a spokesperson for NWAS said.

The northbound carriageway of Macclesfield Road was closed off this morning after the incident.

At least one police car was stationed at the scene as traffic was diverted away from the area.

The road has since been fully reopened.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of an RTC between a van and a motorbike on Macclesfield Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport, at about 6.35am today (22 September).

"NWAS are currently in attendance."

A spokesperson for NWAS said: "We responded to a road traffic collision on Macclesfield Road involving a car and a motorbike.

"The rider, a man in his 50s, has been taken to hospital with a foot injury."
