Motorcyclist taken to hospital after crash in Coronation Road in Southville

A stretch of road in Southville is closed following a collision involving a motorbike.

The motorcyclist, a man, has been taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary after the incident in Coronation Road this afternoon.

The crash was reported to Avon and Somerset Police by the ambulance service at 4.32pm.

There is a police presence at the scene, with areas cordoned off the public.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “A road closure remains in place while enquiries are carried out at the scene.”

It is not yet clear when this partial closure of the road will be lifted.

Witnesses say police are continuing to divert traffic outside Asda, at the junction of Coronation Road and St John's Road.

This is understood to be roughly half a mile up the road from where the incident happened.

The traffic monitor Inrix says: "A370 Coronation Road partially blocked, very slow traffic due to accident near Camden Road."
