Motorcyclist suffers life-changing injuries in Bristol city centre crash

A motorcyclist has suffered what are believed to be life-changing injuries following a crash in Bristol city centre this evening (January 27) The incident occurred on Union Street and involved a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Jeep.

Avon and Somerset Police said the crash was first reported at around 3.55pm. It led to major disruption in the area as a number of roads including Union Street, Wine Street and Baldwin Street had to be closed while the emergency services, including an air ambulance crew, attended.

In an update given by the force, it was confirmed the motorcyclist had been rushed to hospital. However, a police spokesperson confirmed that while the injuries were potentially life-changing, they are not life-threatening.

A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services were called at 3.55pm today, Friday, January 27, to a collision in Union Street, Bristol involving a Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Jeep. The motorcyclist went to hospital by land ambulance with injuries which are potentially life-changing, but thankfully not believed to be life-threatening.

"Their next of kin have been made aware. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured and spoke with officers at the scene.

"Road closures were in place on Union Street, Bristol Bridge and at the junction of Wine Street and Baldwin Street. Examination of the scene was concluded and the vehicles recovered by 8pm, when the roads reopened."
