Motorcyclist struck by van near hospital

A motorcyclist has been struck by a van near the Royal Liverpool Hospital.

Officers said they were called to a crash on Prescot Street at about 3.15pm on Saturday afternoon.

The force said a van was involved in a crash with a motorbike on the busy road.

The male motorcyclist suffered an injury to his leg and arm.

The driver of the van remained at the scene, the force said, and enquiries are ongoing.

Merseytravel said one lane of traffic had to be closed as emergency services worked at the scene.

It tweeted: "There's been an RTC by the Royal Liverpool Hospital going out of Liverpool .

"Traffic is down to 1 lane but moving."
