Motorcyclist seriously injured in smash - police need to speak to witnesses

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a smash in Rochdale.

Officers were called to Albert Royds Street at around 11am on Tuesday, April 30 following reports of a crash.

A person was riding a blue Suzuki bike along Albert Royds Street towards Rochdale Road.

A black Toyota Avensis was parked up on the side of the carriageway between Bellshill Crescent and Bellfield Mill Lane.

Initially, it was allowing cars to pass.

The car then set off and collided with the motorbike.

The biker was seriously injured and taken to hospital. They remain in a serious condition.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash - or has information or dash cam footage - to come forward.
