Motorcyclist seriously injured following collision with Toyota as police seal off roads

A motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries following a collision with a car in Salford.

The smash took place on Great Cheetham Street West, in Higher Broughton, at 7.24am this morning.

Police were called to reports a motorcyclist and silver Toyota Avensis were involved in a collision.

The road has been sealed off in both directions while emergency services attend.

A Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said the motorbike rider was seriously injured.

He has been taken to hospital in an ambulance.

The driver of the Toyota remains at the scene.

A statement from GMP said: "We were called at 7.24am to reports of a collision involving a silver Toyota Avensis and a motobike.

"The road is closed. The motorcyclist has serious injuries and has been taken to hospital.

"The other driver remains at the scene."
