Motorcyclist rushed to Newcastle hospital after collision in Jesmond

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital in Newcastle after a multi-vehicle collision on the A1058 Jesmond Road Westbound around Deuchar Street earlier this morning.

The crash, which involved a car, took place on the western side of the Cradlewell Bypass in Jesmond just before 8am.

The collision caused traffic delays on the A1058 Jesmond Road and one lane was temporarily shut.

Emergency services attended the scene and the North East Ambulance Service confirmed a man was taken to hospital.

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 7:41 this morning to reports of a road traffic incident involving a car and a motorbike. We dispatched one ambulance crew, and took one patient to the RVI for further treatment."

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 7.45am today (Friday) we received a report of a collision involving a car and a motorbike on Jesmond Road, Newcastle.

“Emergency services attended and the male motorbike rider was treated by paramedics at the scene. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

“The road has since been cleared and is fully open.”
