A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a car along a busy road.
The man was riding along the A48 towards Newport, around the area of the Esso garage, when the incident took place.
Gwent Police, Welsh Ambulance Service and the Wales Air Ambulance responded to the incident at just after 8pm on Monday (June 28), and the casualty was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. The emergency services left the scene at 9.10pm. The condition of the motorcyclist is currently unknown.
A spokeswoman for Welsh Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 8.01pm, a report of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist and a car.
"We sent two rapid response vehicles and an emergency ambulance, along with the air ambulance.
"Police were on the scene when we arrived at the scene at 8.11pm and a male was taken to the University Hospital of Wales."
Gwent Police were contacted for comment.
