Motorcyclist may have witnessed fatal crash which killed 88-year-old Calverton woman

Police investigating the death of an 88-year-old woman in Calverton are trying to track down a motorcyclist who may have witnessed the incident.

Lilian Hamblin, 88, was crossing the street in Saint Wilfrid's Square, Calverton, when she was in collision with a dark blue Audi Q7.

It happened around 2.15pm on Friday, May 31.

Residents raced to the aid of the 88-year-old, but she died on June 1 in hospital.

Manager of Sainsbury's Local , Glyn Davies said nurses from the local doctor's surgery came out to help and were even directing traffic while paramedics were on the way.

Residents believed the 88-year-old woman, who was from the village, had just visited Calverton Library when the incident occurred.

They described how the news had "devastated" the village.

The road was closed for several hours while police carried out an investigation.

No arrests were made. The driver of the Audi was assisting officers with their enquiries.

Nottinghamshire Police is now re-appealing for any witnesses who may have more information.

Officers are keen to speak to a man who was with a motorcycle on the day and may have seen what happened.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 491 of 31 May 2019.
