Motorcyclist in hospital with serious injuries after crash with car in Blackley

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash with a car in Blackley.

Emergency services were called to the collision on Rochdale Road at around 6.50pm on Sunday (September 27).

The biker - a man aged in his 20s - was seriously injured in the crash.

He was taken to the Manchester Royal Infirmary from the scene, a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said.

The driver of the car involved in the collision remained at the scene, police confirmed.

No arrests have been made.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 6.50pm on Sunday 27 September to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorbike on Rochdale Road in Blackley.

"The rider of the motorbike – a man in his 20s – suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

"The driver of the car remained at the scene.

"No arrests have been made."

A spokesperson for NWAS said: "We sent a number of resources to the scene including a rapid response vehicle, a land ambulance and the air ambulance was in attendance as well.

"We took one patient to the Manchester Royal Infirmary by land ambulance.

"He was a male aged in his 20s."

Pictures taken after the collision show several police, fire and ambulance vehicles at the scene.

Rochdale Road was blocked off by police officers.
