Motorcyclist in hospital in critical condition after collision with car

A motorcyclist is in hospital in a critical condition after colliding with a car on Friday night.

The motorcyclist, an 18-year-old man, collided with a silver BMW hatchback, being driven by a 30-year-old, at the intersection of Hindmarsh Drive and Yamba Drive in Phillip just after 6pm.

The collision forced the closure of the road for several hours.

Ambulance crews treated the two drivers at the scene of the incident.

The 18-year-old motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition after suffering serious injuries in the collision.

The driver of the BMW was uninjured in the incident.

Investigations are still being carried out by ACT police's major collision team.
