Police are investigating a serious crash in Chorlton which has left a motorbike rider in hospital.
Emergency services were called to the incident at around 1.20pm on Barlow Moor Road at the junction with Maitland Avenue.
A police spokesperson said there was a collision between a motorbike and a BMW.
The rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Barlow Moor Road remains closed in both directions.
Transport for Greater Manchester tweeted an image of the scene that shows long queues in the area.
The agency is advising drivers to use alternative routes.
