Motorcyclist in hospital after collision with minibus closes ring road

A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital after they were involved in a collision with a minibus being driven on the A4174 Avon Ring Road around Bristol this afternoon. The injured person has not been named by police, who have closed one side of the dual carriageway in between Emersons Green and Lyde Green, on the outskirts of the city.

Police collision investigators are at the scene of the incident, which happened at around 4pm today, Saturday, May 21. Officers on the ground have closed the southbound side of the road between the Lyde Green Roundabout and the Rosary Roundabout.

Avon and Somerset police appealed for any witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested those with dashcam footage or anyone who saw either the minibus being driven or the motorbike being ridden, before the crash.

A spokesperson for the police confirmed: "The A4174 is closed south between Lyde Green & Rosary roundabouts after a collision at 4pm today involving a motorbike and a minibus. The rider is in hospital with injuries not thought life-threatening or life-changing. Please call 101 ref 5222120628 with any info or dashcam footage."
