Motorcyclist in his 20s fighting for life after horror crash

A motorcyclist is fighting for his life in hospital after a horror crash in east Manchester.

The smash happened on Stanley Grove, off Mount Road on the border of Longsight and Gorton shortly after 4:20pm on Thursday evening.

A black Seat Leon and a white KTM Duke motorbike were involved in a serious collision Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.

Emergency services attended and the bike rider, a man in his twenties was found to suffered serious injuries.

The air ambulance was seen landing on nearby Annie Lees Park.

The man was rushed to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Seat remained at the scene and "assisted officers" GMP said.

Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made they added.

The road remained closed for several hours between the junctions with Shelford Avenue and Bourton Drive.

Officers investigating the crash are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have footage of it to get in touch with them.

Police Sergeant Neil Pennington from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This collision has resulted in serious injury.

"This happened in broad daylight in a residential area so we are hopeful that someone may have witnessed it or may have CCTV or dashcam footage of the crash.

"Anyone with information should contact GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident quote ref 2074 of 120821."
