Motorcyclist in critical condition after M1 crash with BMW at junction 23

A motorcyclist has been left in critical condition following a crash on the M1.

The crash happened at around 6.20pm on Thursday, June 10 on the southbound carriageway between junctions 23a and 23 and involved a black BMW 1 series and a red Honda CBR motorbike.

The motorcyclist was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he remains in a critical condition.

The BMW driver was not injured, police said.

The road was closed between the junctions while emergency services responded at the scene. It was reopened at around 12am on June 11.

Detective Constable Anita Rose, from Leicestershire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles beforehand.

“Anyone who hasn’t as yet spoken to police is encouraged to make contact with us with what information they have.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 600 of 10 June.
