Motorcyclist hospitalised after bike involved in crash with police car in Edinburgh

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after his bike was involved in a crash with a police car.

The incident happened at around 1.40pm on Friday at Marionville Avenue, near Meadowbank in Edinburgh.

The 36-year-old man riding the off-road Kawasaki bike was treated for non-life threatening injuries in hospital.

Neither of the officers in the marked Police Scotland BMW X5 were injured.

The road was closed for an investigation to take place with police now appealing for any witnesses.

Sergeant Stephen Quinn said: "We are working to establish the circumstances which led to this collision and would urge anyone who may have seen the incident or who has any other information to come forward.

"We would be keen to speak to other road users who were in the area at the time, particularly if they have dashcam footage.

"Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1726 of 5 June."
