Motorcyclist 'driving erratically' arrested in Dublin after testing positive for drugs

A motorcyclist was arrested by gardai after testing positive for drugs while driving in Dublin city centre.

Dublin Metropolitan Region Roads Policing officers stopped the biker after they spotted them "driving erratically" during heavy rain on Sunday.

Gardai carried out a roadside test and the biker tested positive for cannabis and cocaine.

The biker was then arrested and will face a court appearance, according to a tweet posted on the official Garda Traffic Twitter account.

A spokesperson said: "DMR Roads Policing stopped this motorcyclist driving erratically in the city centre in heavy rain.

"Roadside drug test returned positive for cannabis and cocaine. Biker arrested, court to follow."

And over the weekend, gardai nabbed another motorist driving under the influence of cocaine during a checkpoint operation.

Checkpoints were carried out around Dublin city centre as part of Operation Surround, with 64 drivers tested for alcohol and eight tested for drugs.

One motorist returned a positive test for cocaine and was arrested.
