A motorcyclist has died following a serious collision in Co Wicklow.
The fatal collision involved a motorcycle and a car on the N81 in Poulaphouca, Co Wicklow.
It happened at around 3.30pm this afternoon, and a second male motorcyclist was injured.
They have been taken to Tallaght University Hospital, while the driver of the car was uninjured.
The road is expected to stay closed for a number of hours.
A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a car on the N81 at Poulaphouca, Co Wicklow which occurred at approximately 3.30pm today Sunday 6 October 2019.
"The motorcyclist (male, age unknown) was pronounced dead at the scene, a second male motorcyclist was injured and has been taken to Tallaght University Hospital. The driver of the car was uninjured.
"Forensic Collision Investigators are at the scene. The road is expected to stay closed for a number of hours and diversions are in place.
"The local Coroner has been notified.
"Gardaí in Baltinglass are appealing for any witnesses to this incident, particularly any motorists with dash cam footage, to contact Baltinglass Garda Station on 059-6482610 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111."
AA Roadwatch added: "The N81 will remain closed in both directions until further notice between Poulaphouca and Hollywood. Gardai are continuing to deal with a serious collision and diversions are in place."
