A motorcyclist has died following a crash which closed the A77 in Ayrshire for several hours last night.
The 60-year-old man was travelling north around 6.15pm near Harelaw Farm, Fenwick.
Police say the bike appeared to lose control and subsequently left the carriageway.
The road was closed for some time as collision investigation work was carried out. One eyewitness told Ayrshire Live that several police vehicles were in the area.
Emergency services attended but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene; his family has been notified of what has happened.
An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Road policing officers are appealing for anyone who was on the road around the time of the incident to contact them.
Motorists with dash-cam devices are being asked to check any images they may have captured.
