Motorcyclist dies at scene of Ayrshire A70 crash after colliding with car

A motorcyclist has died following a road crash in Ayrshire yesterday.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision on the A70 between Ayr and Coylton, near the entrance to Sundrum, at 2.10pm on Sunday.

The crash left the road closed for nine hours while emergency services responded.

Sadly, the 63-year-old motorcyclist who had collided with a blue Nissan Qashqai, died at the scene.

The driver of the car was not injured.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a collision between a car and motorcycle on the A70 between Ayr and Coylton, near the entrance to Sundrum.

“The collision happened around 2.10pm on Sunday, September 5, and the 63-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The driver of the car, a blue Nissan Qashqai, was not injured. The road was closed until 11pm on Sunday.

“Anyone with information about the crash should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 1937 of 5 September.”
