Motorcyclist dies and passenger seriously injured in early morning crash

A motorcyclist has died after an early morning accident in Trebanog.

It happened at around 5.56am on Wednesday, on the A4233 Trebanog Road at its junction with Rhiwgarn and Brooks Terrace.

A Black Triumph Bonneville motorcycle ridden by a 61-year-old man carrying a 25-year-old male passenger was in collision with a blue Dacia Sandero at the junction.

The rider of the motorcycle was taken to hospital but died later. The passenger was also taken to hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Dacia vehicle was unhurt.

The rider's next of kin has been informed and a specially trained police officer has been deployed to support the family.

South Wales Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Officers would like to speak to any person who witnessed the collision, who stopped to help, or anyone who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision and who have not yet given their details.


The road remained closed for more than four hours while police carried out initial investigations and recovered the vehicles. South Wales Police would like to thank the people affected by the closure for their patience and understanding.
