Motorcyclist dies after horror M74 crash

A motorcyclist has died after a horror crash on the M74 motorway yesterday (Sunday) afternoon.

The northbound section of the road was closed for over five hours, following the collision which took place at Junction 13, near to Abington, at around 4pm.

Police have since confirmed the male motorcyclist died as a result of his injuries in the one-vehicle crash, Daily Record reports.

A Police Scotland spokesperson is quoted as saying: "At around 15.50pm police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a motorcyclist on the M74 northbound near to Junction 11.

"The male rider was taken to hospital where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

"Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident".

Traffic was diverted off the motorway at the junction, before the road eventually reopened at at 9.45pm last night.
