Motorcyclist dies after crash with car on rural road

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in mid Wales.

The incident happened on a rural road in Powys at around 4.50pm on Tuesday evening.

The motorbike was travelling on the A489 between the villages of Sarn and Churchstoke when it was in collision with a car near a church.

Police have confirmed that the rider died at the scene.

The man's identity and age have not yet been confirmed.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the A489 in Powys at approximately 4.50pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. 

"The collision occurred outside the entrance to the Holy Trinity Church.

“The collision involved a silver Vauxhall Astra and a silver & black coloured Suzuki motorbike.

Sadly, the rider of the motorbike passed away at the scene.”

Police now want anyone who witnessed the fatal crash, or who may have dash cam footage of it, to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference 249.
