Motorcyclist dead after horror crash with lorry on Nitshill Road junction

A motorcyclist has died following a crash with a lorry at the junction between Nitshill Road and Parkhouse Road.

Emergency services attended but the 62-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident occurred at around 10am this morning (Saturday, August 29).

The road remains closed to all traffic and pedestrians following the collision with local diversions still in place.

Police have confirmed an investigation into the incident has been launched.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 10am on Saturday, 29 August, 2020, officers were called to Parkhouse Road at the junction with Nitshill Road in Glasgow following a serious road crash involving a lorry and a motorbike.

"The motorcyclist, a 62-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The road remains closed as the investigation into the circumstances continues. Local diversions are in place."

Glasgow City Council earlier confirmed the road closure and collision.

A statement from the local authority read: "Due to a road traffic collision, the junction of Nitshill Road at Parkhouse Road will be closed to pedestrians and all traffic until further notice.  Emergency Services are in attendance and road users are advised to avoid the area if possible.

"Further bulletins will be issued as more information becomes available."
