A motorcyclist was critically injured in a crash with an SUV Saturday in northwest suburban Ingleside.

The 48-year-old Lake Villa man was driving a 2011 Harley-Davidson Street Glide about 1:10 p.m. heading south on Wilson Road near Rollins Road in Ingleside, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office.

Witnesses told investigators the bike entered the intersection on a red light and hit the passenger side of a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox that was westbound on Rollins, the sheriff’s office said.

The motorcyclist, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, was taken to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office. The 67-year-old man driving the Equinox was not hurt and is cooperating with investigators.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
