Motorcyclist 'critical' in hospital after crash with van at Scots industrial estate

A motorcyclist was in a critical condition in hospital last night following a crash at an East Ayrshire industrial estate.

The 45-year-old biker was involved in a collision with a van at the Moorfield industrial estate in Kilmarnock around 2.10pm yesterday afternoon.

He was taken to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition was described as critical by medics. The 39-year-old driver of the van was not injured.

The road was closed for approximately four hours as emergency services worked at the scene.

An ambulance leaving the area was spotted with a police escort as it headed towards the A71 and then on to the A77.

Now the Irvine roads policing unit is appealing for witnesses as officers bid to establish exactly what happened.

Officers would like anyone who saw what happened, or motorists who may have dash-cam footage of the area at the time, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1863 of 7 June, 2022.

The busy Moorfield industrial estate is home to businesses such as Cook School Scotland, MKM Building Supplies, Dingbro, Plumbase, Moorfield Motor Services and many more.
