Motorcyclist clings to hedge after getting trapped by rising flood water

This is the moment a motorcyclist clung for his life after getting trapped in raging floodwater.

It happened on the on the B5426 in Bangor on Dee, Wrexham, on Sunday afternoon.

North Wales Live reported that he was rescued by members of the North Wales Fire service who were using their specialist boating equipment.

It came after a weekend of heavy rain and high winds in the region and it was not the only rescue in the area.

On Monday morning there were nine flood warnings and 19 flood alerts in place across Wales.

The fire service says: "If the road is closed due to the weather please don't ignore the road closure signage - it is there for your safety.

"Crews have been called out twice today to the same location in Bangor on Dee."

More rain is forecast for Wales on Monday.

The Met Office says: "Rain will affects all parts during the morning, some heavy in places, before clearing away to leave a brighter afternoon with some scattered showers. It will be mild, but windy with gales on coasts.

"Tonight, clear spells at first with scattered showers, some heavy and wintry on high ground. Showers becoming more frequent later in the night. Remaining windy on exposed coasts."
