A MAN will face court in August after he was charged over a pursuit in which a police officer was struck by a trail bike earlier this year.
Port Stephens Hunter police began a pursuit with a motorcyclist on the New England Highway at Maitland just before 7pm on April 14.
A short time later a senior constable was on foot near High Street when the bike allegedly struck him.
The rider was thrown from the vehicle, which careened into a Mitsubishi Pajero headed north on the highway.

He remains a patient there, police said in a statement. He is receiving treatment for a wrist fracture, arm laceration and possible broken nose.
The 19-year-old trail bike rider was taken to the same hospital with head, leg and pelvis injuries.

He was charged with 28 offences including aggravated dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - escaping pursuit, and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm - drive manner dangerous.
