April 26--A Shorewood man has been charged with two misdemeanors in connection with an April 28, 2015, crash that killed two people in Plainfield.
Michael A. Bushar, 29, of the 500 block of Edgebrook Drive, is charged with reckless driving and speeding more than 35 mph above the posted speed limit. He also is charged with operating a motorcycle without proper licensing and having no insurance.
Bushar, who was formally charged April 15, is scheduled to return to Will County Circuit Court on May 18. He is free on $15,000 bail.
Plainfield police spokesman Sgt. Mike Fisher said Bushar and Sean Fitzpatrick, 27, of Plainfield, were riding motorcycles "together at a high rate of speed" north on Route 59 around midnight.
Fitzpatrick lost control at Lockport Street, colliding with Plainfield resident Randy Lambert, 56, as he was crossing the intersection. Lambert was the brother of architect and historic preservationist Michael Lambert. Fitzpatrick and Randy Lambert were fatally injured.
Fisher said several factors delayed the case against Bushar, including Bushar's departure from the scene and investigators' desire to "make sure every 't' was crossed and every 'i' was dotted."
Michael Lambert declined to comment on the charges.
