Motorcyclist Anthony Silver dies in hospital six days after crash in Barry

A motorcyclist has died from his injuries six days after a crash with a car, police have confirmed.

“Loving father and grandfather” Anthony Silver, 60, died in hospital surrounded by friends and family almost a week after the crash in Barry .

Mr Silver, who was known as Tony, was injured in the crash in Port Road at the junction with Blackton Lane, Barry, at around 2.50pm on June 20.

The crash, between Mr Silver’s motorbike and a Ford Focus, resulted in Mr Silver being taken to the University Hospital of Wales , Cardiff, for treatment.

A South Wales Police spokesman said Mr Silver, from Barry, died from his injuries on Wednesday, June 26.

His family released a statement which said: “Tony Silver is survived by his parents and siblings, Royston, Doreen, Terrence and Jackie. His younger sister Lesley sadly passed away several years ago. 

“He was a loving father and grandfather to many children, whom he loved dearly.

“He loved to go fishing, motorcycling, and listening to music. He lived life to the full and will be sorely missed by all his family and friends.” 

Police have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage to come forward. Anyone with information can call 101 quoting reference 1900222256.
