Motorcyclist, 60, dies after crash on A40 near Llandeilo

A man has died following a crash between a motorcycle and a car in Carmarthenshire.

The incident happened on the A40 between Llandeilo and Carmarthen at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

A six-mile stretch of the road was closed for several hours in both directions between Llandeilo and the Dryslwyn crossroads, as police, paramedics and a Wales Air Ambulance helicopter attended the scene.

The crash involved a Triumph Daytona motorcycle and a Citroen Xsara, and police have confirmed that the 60-year-old rider of the motorcycle has died.

They are now appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash.

A spokesman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the A40 outside Llandeilo.

“The collision, involving a grey Citroen Xsara and a yellow Triumph Daytona motorcycle, happened on the A40, at the junction with the old Carmarthen Road, at approximately 2.30pm on Wednesday, September 9, 2020.

“Tragically, the rider of the motorcycle, a 60-year-old male, passed away a short time after the collision.

“If anyone witnessed this collision or has any dashcam footage, please contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit quoting incident ref 187 of the 9 September.”

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact Dyfed-Powys Police by e-mailing contactcentre@dyfed-powys.pnn.police.uk, by calling 101, or by reporting it online.
