Motorcyclist, 30, dies after collision with car on the A68 in Consett

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in Consett.

The 30-year-old man died after the collision with a car on the A68 at Allensford Bank on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.30pm after the off road KTM SX bike collided with a Nissan Qashqai.

Despite the efforts of the emergency services the man, who was from Consett, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road remained closed for several hours while police carried out investigations.

Durham Constabulary confirmed that two men were currently assisting them with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for the force said: "Anyone with information in relation to the collision or with dashcam footage is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 236 of April."
