'Suspended' motorcycle rider killed in Salisbury crash, man stabbed in stomach in Adelaide CBD

SA's Police Commissioner has revealed that a motorcycle rider who died in a two-vehicle crash in Adelaide's north last night had a suspended licence and was driving an unregistered vehicle.

Police and emergency services were called to the intersection of Main North Road and Frost Roads, in Salisbury South, just before 9:00pm on Wednesday after a car and motorcycle collided.

Police said they performed CPR, but the 25-year-old Elizabeth Vale man could not be saved and died at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 23-year-old Greenwith woman, was not hurt in the collision.

SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said the motorcycle rider had a suspended licence.

"I'm advised that the motorcycle was unregistered, and the rider was suspended," he said.

"[It's] clearly a tragedy that's going to be experienced by the family of this rider.

"[It's] a devastating situation for the other driver involved in the collision.

He added that it was a particularly terrible time of year for such an accident to happen.

"The only positive, I suppose, is last year's road toll at this time was 99 and we're currently sitting at 70 fatalities," he said.

"We need to think about our responsibilities as road users when we're out and about on the road."

Major Crash investigators attended the scene overnight and Main North Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Police have called for any witnesses of the crash, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Woman arrested after CBD stabbing

Meanwhile, a woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing a man in Adelaide's CBD last night.

Police say they were called to North Terrace just after 11:00pm, after receiving reports that a 43-year-old Stirling North man had been stabbed in the stomach.

He was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital and his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

Police say patrols then searched the area and found the suspect in Bank Street.

The 41-year-old Kent Town woman was charged with aggravated assault causing harm.

She was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.

Police say it was not a random incident and both people are known to each other.
