If you've been following RideApart lately, you'll be up to date with motorcycle influencer Yogesh Alekari, who was in the midst of a round-the-world trip when he had his KTM 390 Adventure stolen in Nottingham, England recently. But it wasn't just his mode of transport that was stolen, as the bike contained everything from his passport and high-end cameras to his tent. He lost quite literally everything, barring the clothes on his back. But now, his story has taken a major turn.
The Off Road Centre has donated a KTM 790 Adventure to Alekari after hearing about his tragic situation. So, although he is still missing his gear and sentimental things he picked up throughout the 17 countries he's visited since leaving Mumbai, he's gotten a pretty serious upgrade in machinery.
Apparently, a number of parties had reached out to Alekari and offered to lend him a motorcycle to finish the last leg of this trip, which will see him travel to Spain, then Morocco, before making his way to Cape Town and finishing his travels in Kenya. But The Off Road Centre doesn't want the bike back; in fact, the dealership doesn't want anything in return for the 790 Adventure.
Ben Ledwidge, managing director, and Daniel Watts, owner of The Off Road Centre, heard about what had happened to Alekari via social media, and they reached out to him to see if they could help.
Watts said, "We saw Yogesh's story, he only nipped in for a coffee when he got his bike stolen. We thought, well, we have this bike here, we have to help him out. It's not only helping out the reputation of Nottingham but the country, this guy has travelled to 47 countries and had no problems whatsoever. If we didn't help him out, then his stigma of the country would be ruined. He might have thought it was the worst place he's ever been, so we had to step in. We don't want anything from him, but we just want to follow him and see what he's doing."
Alekari still has quite a way to go to complete his round-the-world trip and will start a GoFundMe to help him reach Kenya. If you want to support him, keep an eye on his socials and drop a donation when the campaign goes live.
