Motorbike crash in Tingley, Leeds, sees elderly man rushed to hospital in air ambulance as police cordon off road

An elderly man has been taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being hit by a motorcycle.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police were called to Leeds Road, near Heybeck Lane, at about 5pm today (October 8) to a report of a serious collision between a pedestrian and a motorcycle.

The elderly male pedestrian was taken to hospital by ambulance after sustaining serious head injuries.

Police have confirmed that road closures remain in place at this time, while officers conduct their enquiries.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "Police were called to Leeds Road, near Heybeck Lane, at about 17.01 today (Friday October 8) to a report of a serious collision between a pedestrian and a motorcycle.

"An elderly male pedestrian was taken by air ambulance to hospital for treatment to serious head injuries.

"Road closures are in place near the scene and enquiries remain ongoing this evening."

Yorkshire Ambulance Service have also confirmed that they were called to the area this evening after reports that a pedestrian was hit by a motorcycle.

A spokesperson confirmed that two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and the air ambulance were deployed.
