Motor skills: Long service awards for M74 Lanarkshire staff

By Leona Greenan

Dedicated team members at two M74 Lanarkshire service areas have been recognised for their outstanding loyalty to Roadchef.

Elizabeth Clelland recently reached the 30 year milestone at the Bothwell Motorway Service Area (MSA), whilst colleague Rosemary Clements was recognised for her 25 year service at the Hamilton MSA.

Elizabeth, better known by colleagues as Liz, currently forms an integral part of the facilities team and works extremely hard to help maintain high customer standards across the site. In the past, she has taken on a diverse range of roles at Roadchef, working across numerous departments from front of house to operations.

At one point, Liz even put her gardening skills to good use as she maintained the landscaping within the Bothwell grounds alongside her husband, who worked for Roadchef at the time.

However, for most of her 30 years, Liz has enjoyed doing what she does best, which is welcoming countless customers, often chatting and joking with them, so they return to the roads with a smile on their face.

Rosemary first began her Roadchef journey a quarter of a century ago, where she served travellers wanting to get something to eat in the Restbite restaurant. Since then, she has gone on to enjoy a number of roles in most of the front of house departments before settling at the Days Inn, Roadchef’s partner hotel.

During her stint in the hotel, Rosemary has taken on a variety of different roles. Her favourite being housekeeping where she enjoys implementing her own high cleaning standards and ensuring they are maintained throughout the building.

Simon Turl, Non-Executive Chairman, who presented the Long Service Awards to both ladies said: "It is talented and dedicated people like Liz that make Roadchef the successful company it is today. We are grateful for the hard work and effort she has put in over the years, especially her passion for going above and beyond for our customers.

"We can’t thank her enough for everything she has done for the business, and we hope she continues to stay with us for many more years to come."

He added: "Rosemary's commitment to the business over the last 25 years and passion for delivering phenomenal service is outstanding. Rosemary is a highly valued member of the team, and we are extremely grateful for everything she has done for Roadchef and its customers. Congratulations Rosemary on this fantastic milestone"

Both Liz and Rosemary, who have made many friends throughout their time with the company, said they have thoroughly enjoyed their careers with Roadchef and look forward to the future.
