Motor flips onto side after horror crash in Edinburgh as flash flooding wreaks chaos on roads

A major Edinburgh road has been blocked after a motor flipped over onto its side amid a heavy thunderstorm.

Emergency services have been called to the scene on Queensferry Road after the one car crash shortly after 6pm on Sunday.

It is not currently known whether anyone was injured however a picture from the scene shows the stricken vehicle in the middle of the road.

It is understood that motorists travelling both directions are facing heavy delays however police are directing traffic.

Local reports claim an ambulance is also in attendance near Clermiston Primary School.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.

The nearby A720 Edinburgh City Bypass has also been affected by flash flooding on Sunday afternoon.

It was temporarily closed in both directions at Dreghorn due to a high volume of water on the roadway with motorists warned to find another route.

A yellow Met Office weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms remains in place for large parts of Scotland until midnight.
