Motor flips onto roof and bursts into flames as driver rushed to hospital

A man was taken to hospital after his car flipped over onto its roof before bursting into flames in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the A947 Turriff to Aberdeen Road at around 5.15pm on Saturday, March 27.

The road was temporarily closed while fire crews doused the burning vehicle with high powered hose reel jets before successfully putting out the flames.

Police Scotland confirmed that one man was taken to hospital however it is understood that he was able to get out of the car before the fire took hold.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two crews attended following reports of a ‘well established vehicle fire’.

A force spokesperson said: “Around 5:15pm on Saturday 27 March 2021, police received a report of a car on fire on the A947 at the Mill of Petty.

“Emergency services attended and one man was taken to hospital.”
