MotoGP rider scrambles off the track as bikes zoom past him in heart-stopping accident

Spanish Moto2 rider Aron Canet was involved in one of the scariest racing accidents you’ll see all year in a qualifying session at Portimao in Portugal on Saturday, but miraculously was able to run off the track unharmed after a group of his competitors zoomed by just inches away from him.

Canet crashed going over one of Portimao’s many elevation changes, leaving him in a very dangerous position on the ground over the crest of a blind hill.

You think the situation is bad enough when you see Canet scraping across the track at high speed, but it gets so much worse when he turns his head to see a group of bikes screaming toward him. All of the other riders were fortunately able to take evasive action, and Canet took off sprinting down the track to retrieve his bike. Incredibly, Canet was able to get back on track and qualify 15th after the accident.
