Motherwell Women's star explains referee conversation during weekend draw

Motherwell Women's assistant coach and player Leanne Crichton has hit out at a conversation with referee Iain Snedden during Sunday's draw with Spartans.

Paul Brownlies's side drew 0-0 with Spartans at Ainslie Park, playing the final 30 minutes with 10 players after Paige McAllister was sent off.

Crichton’s cross was met by Lori Gardner at close range, but Spartans goalkeeper Rachel Harrison made a good save in one of Motherwell's best chances of the match.

Crichton has been left unhappy with dialogue she had with the referee, taking to social media to explain a conversation had between her and the official.

She said: "Conversation with yesterday’s referee… Me: 'Ref you keep getting in the way of the ball, you would be a cracking centre mid'

"Ref: 'Aye very good Leanne, have you ever considered that maybe it’s you that isn’t that great?'

"Disappointing response."

Motherwell are eighth in SWPL1 after the goalless draw with Spartans.
