Airdrie boss Ian Murray says his side's sensational win over Motherwell has been coming for weeks - he just didn't expect it to be against Premiership opposition.
The Diamonds sparkled in the first Lanarkshire derby between the sides for 14 years, with goals from Rhys McCabe and debutant Scott McGill giving Airdrie a priceless three points.
Murray said: "I can believe it because I have been telling the players all week that we have quality.
"I could see huge improvement coming and it has probably come against the team we didn't expect. But I did think if we turned up we could get the win.
"The goals were crackers. We showed the quality we have.
"Scott is a very good young player and it is good for him to come here and he will go back to Hearts a better player.
"We have absolutely no doubt that he will go back to Hearts, but he will go back a better player.
"We have talked about Scott for a good while and it is good for us to get him in.
"If we win on Saturday at Queen of the South we would be top of the group. It is huge now but to be in it is fantastic."
Murray was delighted to have a vocal crowd behind the team and said it was very welcome.
"I was delighted for the fans because we missed them last year. They come here and support us 100 per cent and we might not always be perfect but I can guarantee we give everything."
